That’s right!!! They’re baaaaack! But really…they’ve never gone anywhere! 😀
Even though the famous rock band KISS went on a farewell tour that started in March 2000, they reunited in 2001…so they really can’t stop rocking out together! HAHA
And if I told you their band member history it would be like writing a short story! 😦 Just know that the guy everybody knows by name…frontman Gene Simmons (with the tongue that is always on display) and Paul Stanley are known as the band’s founding members.
Original drummer Peter Criss left the group more than I can even recall after I just read about it! lol 😀 And the fourth and final original member Ace Frehley is long gone from the band too!
This is from Google! The only member I cut out is Gene, since we know him, to fit them all:
So you’re right if you thought that there aren’t 11 members in the band KISS…
That’s 100% correct! hahaha 😀
So how many are there? Four.
Who is in the band TODAY?
Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer
So now that we got that settled guys! HAHA Let’s focus on that photo and note that KISS is celebrating 40 years as a band!!!
I know of another legendary rock band celebrating 40 years in 2014:
Check out my article about them here: http://musicrowgirl.com/2014/02/17/acdc-to-celebrate-40th-anniversary-in-style/
AND LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!!!
Loving the new Daughtry album by the way!
As for the rock and rollers KISS, I can tell you that their frontman Gene Simmons is looking to involve the fans as much as possible for their 40th Anniversary!
Gene announced last night that KISS is launching a campaign on the crowdsourcing website: Tongal
Tongal is a company that joins creatives and brands to crowdsource the pitch-and-development process.
They are responsible for asking content creators and fans to submit their best ideas for “how KISS should celebrate their 40th anniversary in the most epic way possible.”
I like KISS even more now that they proudly use the word EPIC 😀
A Tongal campaign involves ideation and pitch processes before moving on to an execution stage where a commercial or campaign is produced!!!
Past Tongal projects have included a Pringles commercial with a Star Wars theme and a Speed Stick ad that aired during the 2013 Super Bowl!!!
See them right here:
The KISS Crowdsourcing Campaign is part of a new Tongal service called Left Field, which allows brands to reach out to creators and fans through a 140-character social media call-to-action to help brainstorm ideas.
Sound familiar anyone?
I just started using Twitter for MRG not even 2 months ago and I LOVE IT! 🙂
Here is Gene’s official press statement: “We’ve always been about the fans. Tongal allows our fans to throw out ideas, and you know you’re going to make something authentic.”
He adds a quick insight about how similar the crowdsourcing process at Tongal is to the collaboration within a band: “One person doesn’t play every instrument. You contribute where you’re skilled.”
I love Gene Simmons! Let me just say! 😀 HAHA
This man is not only a rockstar, but one heck of a businessman! In fact, he’s one of my favorite entrepreneurs!
No one, and I mean NO ONE is a better marketer for a musical act than Gene Simmons! I watched his episode of MTV Cribs once and I couldn’t believe what all he had in his KISS museum!
The man had credit cars, dolls, figurines, Hello Kitty stuff, and so much more! He has singlehandedly, with I’m sure the help of 17 assistants, put together the longest list of products for a band!
And there’s even an ornament of Gene’s tongue for your Christmas tree! 😀 lol
And thanks to my mom who just read this blog, I have this to show you:
A thing of beauty! LOL 😀 The Gene Simmons hoodie I bought years ago!!
Now that I’m thinking about my mom…she wrote in my baby book that my first sentence was “Kiss Kiss.” so that’s got to count for something! HAHA
Here we are in Nashville last weekend in front of the Hard Rock!
My buddy Gene made his grand announcement of the KISS Crowdsourcing Campaign last night as part of his appearance at Tongal’s inaugural award show the Tongies, which was held at the El Rey Theatre.
I have to hand it to KISS and Gene Simmons!!! Their fans adore them and I’m so happy that they are allowing them to share in the 40th Anniversary celebration in the the most epic way possible 😀
This news from KISS comes hot off the heels of their concert tour announcement!!!
KISS and Def Leppard are teaming up to tour this summer!!! 😀
According to the USA Today, the idea to have a combo tour was first pitched by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, who sat down and talked with Gene Simmons!!!
That’s first time I can recall Gene not having the lead in something KISS-related!!!
The bands have never been seen on the same bill so fans should definitely get out there and see them this summer!
In April, KISS will be inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame!!!
They are celebrating the 40th anniversary of releasing their first record Hotter Than Hell this year!!!
KISS’ website is so well done by the way: http://www.kissonline.com/
