There’s this guy that I can’t stop listening to because his voice is phenomenal!
Matthew is a singer-songwriter born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, New York. He started off as punk rock and then transitioned himself into pop, hip-hop, and EDM.
I know him most for his EDM collaborations which include “Spectrum” with Zedd, “Dare You” with Hardwell, “Years” with Alesso, “Wasted” with Tïesto, and “Find You” with Zedd and Miriam Bryant.
They say his most notable appearance was “Spectrum” yet I’m going to say that my favorite has to be “Find You”…take a listen to it here:
🙂 You’re welcome! 🙂
And don’t think that amazing vocals are all that Mr. Koma is capable of…Not even close! He’s an amazing songwriter too and he co-wrote one of my favorite songs…”Calling (Lose My Mind)” by Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, and Ryan Tedder! Listen to that masterpiece:
Matthew was noticed by the former CEO of Interscope Records: Jimmy Iovine. It sounds weird to say former, but Jimmy has moved on to oversee his baby: Beats Electronics for the deal that Apple made to purchase the leader in headphone market share for a whopping $3 billion just this last week!
Jimmy saw so much promise in Matthew after watching an acoustic performance that he signed him to Interscope!
Matthew released his first EP “Parachute” in May 2012:
Cool artwork! 😀
Then he toured with LMFAO & Far East Movement and with Owl City to get exposure:
Koma’s debut album “Arcadia” was supposed to released in late 2013, but it’s still hiding from us!! 😦 However, we do have another EP and a single to hold us down:
I’m really blown away by The Cherrytree Sessions EP and I love “Suitcase”:
That song is lovely! Just lovely!
And I must mention that Matthew toured with Ellie Goulding & Charli XCX last year!
Ellie & Charli must have been a blast to tour with!
Not to pry into Matthew’s life…but I couldn’t help but notice that he is dating “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen! I’m not sure if they’re still together, but they both have seen much success!
Matthew never took no for an answer when people wouldn’t let him on tour! Instead he invented a booking agency and toured from Tulsa to Tokyo and back! He ended up with “$150 and a hot pocket,” but he certainly paid his dues to be where he is now!! 😀
Matthew turns 27 TOMORROW and we should all listen to him to celebrate:
