Ne-Yo is an incredible hit songwriter as well as a respected recording artist…
…who has been a victim of manager misconduct.
The artist/manager relationship is one that is very much like a marriage. There are ups and downs, real-life problems, money changing hands, times when you despise each other, and times when you’re happy with each other.
Artists & Managers be like:
Wait, lemme get this call!
I like to quote my mom for saying: “Money is the root of all evil” and it’s certainly been the downfall of many an artist/manager relationship.
Ne-Yo’s situation is no different and he’s claiming that his manager stole/shorted him of 8 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!
I understand you misplacing $1,000 after a late night accounting session with blurry eyes…but how do you make millions disappear??
Burning it is one way! #TheDarkKnight
Realistically speaking…I think that his ex-manager was up to some shady business! Word on the street is that he began to manage Ne-Yo’s finances in 2005 and moved money around without permission! 😦
Then the shadiness continues on as the ex-manager faked Ne-Yo’s name on loan documents and invested money in a water company that was close to bankruptcy!!!
Shady manager’s message to Ne-Yo:
In the lawsuit, Ne-Yo is seeking $4.5 million in addition to the $3.5 million in fees that he paid to his manager over the span of their time in business together!
He’s basically taking it all back!!!
Kevin Foster is the manager in question here and it’s alright y’all…I feel like he’s already ran to the hills of Austria to remake “The Sound Of Music”:
The hiiiiiiiills are aliiiiiiiiive…
But seriously…the phone number for his management firm is now out of service!
I feel very sorry for Ne-Yo! I have nothing bad to say about the guy! He’s awesome!!! And he will be forever encapsulated in one of the best songs ever:
I’ve never met Ne-Yo before, but he did walk past me in Orlando at the 2012 NBA All-Star game when I was told to “behave” with the other 500 young people who were crowd fillers for the live performances on the basketball court. I just watched him walk by in his letterman jacket & aviators and I got Pop music chills! 😀
The lesson learned here is #1: Never trust anyone you don’t know really, really, really well AND #2 Don’t assume that everyone in the world has the best intentions.
I really hope you can recover your losses Ne-Yo! You deserve it!!!
