Bruno Mars made a special fan’s dream come true this past weekend!

Two selfies posted to his Instagram was just the start of Bruno’s surprise!

In 2013, 11 year old Zumyah Thorpe was involved in a fatal car accident. A drunk driver struck the car she was in, killing her pregnant mother and her 2 younger sisters. Zumyah was the only survivor of the crash and suffered severe injuries including brain damage.

Nancy Bass, Zumyah’s neurologist said, “As many as 70 percent of people with her injuries don’t survive and those who do, mostly stay in a vegetative state.”

No one was giving up on Zumyah in recovery and her nurses would play some of our favorite modern day crooner’s hit songs every night.

Zumyah began to walk in recovery and with her speech therapist she was able to say “Bruno Mars” as well as sing every word to his songs! She is living proof that music heals! 😀

On Saturday in Cleveland, Bruno gave an amazing tribute to his guest Zumyah:

In the video, Bruno invited Zumyah (who is blind from the car accident) to be led over to the side of the stage where he could hold her hand and sing “Just The Way You Are” to her!

I’m a tough cookie but even I shed some tears watching that video!!!

Bruno didn’t want to have Zumyah go away empty handed so he gave her his signature fedora and his guitar! Her guardian put the hat on her head and helped her hold the guitar.

And in a caption on one of Bruno’s Instagram photos with Zumyah he said: “Zumyah tonight you gave my band and I something we’ve never felt before. you’re an inspiration to the world! #WeLoveYouZumyah”

I love when artists/bands give back to their fans! It’s the sweetest thing in the world and it shows that they really care!

Zumyah is an inspiration and so is Bruno Mars! 🙂
