In honor of Tomorrowland, I feel like it’s necessary for me to talk about an EDM discovery:
This is Deorro.
Deorro is the stage name of 22 year old Erick Orrosquiesta who began his DJ career at the age of 14! He played local gigs then and by the time he turned 17…he knew how to produce his very own tracks!!
In 2012 he got the break of a lifetime when the incredible DJ Chuckie asked him to remix his song “Make Some Noise” and his remix made it in the Top 50 songs of the famous EDM website Beatport!
Check it out here: http://www.beatport.com/
And here’s Deorro’s remix of DJ Chuckie’s “Make Some Noise”:
He killed it…if you ask me! 😀
He’s gone on to remix several different internationally famous DJ’s tracks such as:
Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke, and Gareth Emery
Deorro is signed to EDM titan Hardwell’s record label “Revealed Recordings” and he released the track “Yee” in 2013 that charted in Europe, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
But it was on May 17th of this year that Deorro told his fans VIA Twitter the bad news…he was going to take a break from DJing.
I’m really surprised that at the young age of 22 you would decide to hang up your headphones! HAHA But hey! His reason for this hiatus is legitimate because he wants to focus on making music and expanding his management team/music label: “PandaFunk”.
He looks proud in his Panda shirt 🙂
I love how most artists and bands are also entrepreneurs and have chosen to brand themselves in unique ways!
What initially put Deorro on the map for me was hearing his song “Five Hours”:
That song is really amazing and I was hooked from the first time I stumbled across it on SoundCloud!
I’m sad to see Deorro part from DJing, but at least we know he’s still hard at work.
