I’ve been wondering for a while now why the singer “Sia” won’t show her face…
…and I’ve found the answer for why that is!
Sia is an incredible singer songwriter and really most known for her songwriting prowess. She’s written so many songs that you know and love such as: “Diamonds” by Rihanna, “Pretty Hurts” by Beyoncé, “You Lost Me” by Christina Aguilera, “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)” by Ne-Yo, and “Loved Me Back to Life” by Celine Dion. Many, many more gems are in her songwriting credit catalog, but that gives you an idea 😀
Most people knew Sia from her song “Titanium” with world-famous DJ David Guetta that was released in 2011! That song really put her on the map and everyone adored her voice!
Take a good listen to “Titanium” right here:
So “Titanium” happened, but as you may notice…Sia is nowhere to be found in the music video and even then nobody really knew what she looked like unless they Googled her name! It was a bit peculiar that she wasn’t in the video, but I brushed it off.
She stuck out like a sore thumb on a while back on “Chelsea Lately” when she went to perform her smash hit song “Chandelier” yet she wasn’t facing the crowd at all. You could see the back of her head and that was it! I was so surprised!
It wasn’t difficult to see Sia back when she was just writing her own music, after all…
The front of her face has been featured on 4 of her albums!
So why all the coverings, the backwards interviews, the shielding her face performances? Why the secrecy with her image?
Well, the obvious reason is the reason! Sia doesn’t want to be famous, but she doesn’t mind if her music is. Being famous means being easily recognizable and that’s not the life that Sia wants for herself.
Allow her to explain the reason why in her own words:
She’s in it for the music, not for the fame.
I respect her for doing this actually and I can understand why she does. I feel like the people in Hollywood who desire a private life have to work for it. So bascially, Sia is just making her television appearances faceless so that the rest of her life she can be in public like a normal person and not being hunted down by paparazzi. It’s a unique idea and I respect it!
I recommend everyone listening to Sia’s latest album:
1000 Forms of Fear
Her music is incredible, bold, and memorable! Don’t let your ears miss the chance of hearing how sonically unbelievable ‘1000 Forms of Fear’ is 😀
Thank you Sia for teaching us a lesson about privacy & keep on making music for us!
