Evanescence to play first show in 3 years!

I really love bands and I’m so happy to tell you that…

…Evanescence is back!

Evanescence was an incredible rock band from the late 90’s that made their splash onto the scene in 2003 with “Bring Me To Life”.

I remember jamming out to that song so hardcore with my friends in middle school HAHA My best friend loved that song so much! šŸ˜€

Take a listen to “Bring Me To Life” here:

The lead singer, Amy Lee, has been praised by many for having an incredible voice! She really does and I love voices that give you chills! She has a very powerful instrument and it’s an amazing paring with the heavily-distorted electric guitars and piano melodies!

I’m so happy this year already because of all the bands/artists (Justin Bieber) who are making their comebacks and now we can gladly addĀ Evanescence to the list!

Their last live performance as a band was in November 2012 and their next performance will be November 21st atĀ Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe Arena as part of Ozzfest Japan!

ozz_snsI’ve always wanted to go to Japan!

Fans can see hits like “My Immortal” and “Bring Me to Life” again… but for now, only in Japan.

Since the 2012 hiatus, fans should be happy to see them back out there playing live shows! I can only hope their is a new album to follow all this awesomeness!!! You know their should be!

Their last album was the self-titled one from 2011:

I will go ahead and mention that today, April 30th is Music Row Girl’s birthday so don’t be afraid to tweet her or leave a comment and wish her well šŸ˜€

Congratulations Evanescence & best of luck at Ozzfest Japan!

VH1 Save The Music hosts town hall meeting May 7th!

I love how VH1 has contributed to the preservation of the arts by way of…

…theirĀ Save The Music Foundation!

Remember how politicians will hold Town Hall meetings? Well apparently VH1 is holding one too and instead of public opinion about all major hot topics, they’ll be focusing on keeping music in school!

The meeting is going to focus onĀ STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education versus STEM education. So yeah, you guessed it! The debate is about whether Arts should be eliminated from the school system or whether it should stay!

The live stream can be seen atĀ VH1SaveTheMusic.orgĀ on Thursday May 7th at 7 pm ET live from New York’sĀ Paley Center!

Screen Shot 2015-04-29 at 8.24.54 PM#PaleyCenter

Paul Cothran, the VP and executive director of VH1’s Save the Music Foundation said: “STEAM education — that is injecting ā€˜artsā€™ into traditional educational curriculum — is incredibly important for the future of Americaā€™s kids. Most often, the discourse on curriculum takes place between legislators and educators, leaving out the most important audience ā€“ the parents. At VH1 Save The Musicā€™s first Keynote Assembly, we will bring together experts in STEAM, both in academia and in practice, to educate and empower parents in the arts education discussion. And through the livestream, parents and educators around the country can interact, engage in the dialogue and further the movement to bring STEAM-based education to all kids.ā€

STEAM_LOGO_redraw4MRG is Pro-STEAM šŸ˜€

Save The Music was founded in 1997 and over time has donated $51 million worth of brand new musical instruments to 1,900 public schools in the US!

The main argument that the organization has is that STEAMĀ curriculums can and in fact do contribute to improved cognitive development, math and reading skills, as well as self-expression and self-esteem!

Oh how we all could use more of that!

The foundationā€™s 2014 celebrity ambassadors include Britney Spears, Jason Derulo, Cher Lloyd, Hunter Hayes, Taye Diggs, Gloria Reuben, and Diane Birch.

I think arts education is so important and it’s certainly proven to aid greatly in the mental development of a child…let alone, the mental development of a person!

I congratulate VH1 on what you do & may they continue to save the music!

Sam Smith cancels tour due to vocal cord hemorrhage!

Sam Smith was such an incredible standout artist in music last year and now…

…he’s unfortunately suffering with a vocal cord hemorrhage!

Sam is a phenomenal singer that stunned the world last year with his raw talent. You know that, and I know that, but what we’re learning today is that Mr. Smith has come down with a vocal injury šŸ˜¦

Sam has been diagnosed with a hemorrhage to his vocal cords and he’s forced to cancel the rest of his tourĀ in Australia including a performance this Sunday night at the TV industryā€™s annual Logie Awards.

Sam shared this with his fans on Instagram:

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 9.54.33 PMHow sad!!!

Sam had to cancel his sold-out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth but his new tour dates to replace those canceled dates will be announced soon!!

His tour schedule will resume in December according to sources, but I would just wait about a month and see, if I were you, just to be sure of when the dates will be for the Australia tour.

Sam’s canceled tour dates include:
April 28: Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
April 30: Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne
May 1: AEC Theatre, Adelaide, SA
May 4: HBF Stadium

And I’ll have you know that he’s sung “Lay Me Down” with John Legend:

Two incredibly talented men! I looooove it!

I’ll admit that it makes me nervous when such talented singers undergo surgery on their vocal cords. It makes me a little uneasy, but I trust the doctors will do their best to help Sam get back to full health. I haven’t heard of very many procedures not working when it comes to surgery nowadays with the innovative ways of performing it. It’s a crazy world we live in and the technology keeps getting better!

What’s funny is that I was just talking to someone the other day about how vocal problems often happen to these singers who explode onto the scene because they are required to sing so much and their schedules are exhausting! Just look at Adele! It certainly is stressful when you’re thrust into stardom!

I wish Sam the absolute best & come back to Nashville soon!

…from all over the world come to see our country singers/bands perform!

What happened to Joss Stone?

You know, I’ve been thinking about writing every once in a while…

…about what happened to an artist/band & I’ve got Joss Stone on my mind!

Joss just came back to my consciousness today as I was listening to some nice Sunday R&B jams and I remembered JOSS STONE! OMG what in the world happened to her?!

I remember how much I loved her voice and to be honest, I’m listening to new artists and bands all the time to the point that I will forget and/or misplace music in my mind. It’s like you have all these things to do and then you remember like ohhhh yeah I forgot that I’ve been wanting to do thiiiis! Welp! That’s what happens with my ADD music brain too!

Joss Stone is an incredible soul singer and made her splash onto the music scene with her sophomore album:

Take a listen to her hit single from the album, “You Had Me”:

Joss is 28 now and hails from Dover, England! I never knew she was from the UK so that’s a surprise to me HAHA

I was listening to her amazing music today and wondering where oh where did she go…since I lost tabs on her!!

As it would turn out, Joss released her last full album in July 2012:

But the good news is she just released a brand new single featuring Jeff Beck in November called “No Man’s Land (Green Fields of France)”.

Take a listen to that beauuuutiful song here:

In addition to a new single, Joss is on tour right now in which she calls “Total World Tour”. Total meaning all, which is just about right because sheĀ started in April 2014 and is taking close to 3 years to visit 204 countries!!!

Globe-1I didn’t even know there were that many countries! LOL

She’s gonna be playing Rock in Rio on May 16th and to see more tour dates from Miss Stone, go to this linky link: [jossstone.com/tour] and you and I both are going to like her Facebook page [facebook.com/jossstone] so we don’t lose touch of our amazing songbird again!!!

Hope you enjoyed getting a dose of Joss Stone today like I did! I’m a sucker for an R&B singer with a smooth as honey voice! What can I say?!

Don’t be a stranger Joss and come to Nashville soon!

Nashville’s new Ascend Amphitheater opens July 30th!

I’ve been seeing a lot of construction around the city and the good news is…

…that Nashville’s new outdoor live music venue will be opened on July 30th!

I love how the Nashville skyline will be the backdrop for the amphitheater! Whoever decided that deserves a raise! HAHA šŸ˜€

The news has just been broken that the name for Nash’s new venue is going to beĀ Ascend Amphitheater and the first concert ever to be played there will be Eric Church on July 30th!!!

EricChurchThat’s gonna be one wild night!

Not only was Mr. Church announced as the concert kickoff man, but they also revealed an entire lineup including Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Steely Dan with Elvis Costello, Phish, ZZ Top with Blackberry Smoke, and two back to back nights of Widespread Panic…see the full list below!!

Tickets start going on sale on MRG’s birthday…Thursday, April 30th!!! Now you know so don’t say I didn’t tell you šŸ˜‰

What I also want you to know about this venue is that it’s having aĀ free…yes…FREE open house for the community on August 2nd! They’re promising tours and performances by local bands and DJs!

The amphitheater is located right in downtown Nashville by the riverfront! What a prime location and a great way to attract more guests to the city during the summer/fall months! Amphitheaters in the north have seasons so as to accommodate the time that it isn’t freezing cold, snowing, and too difficult to drive on the roads! HAHA How sweet of them for doing that!!

Live Nation has aĀ 10-year contract with the city of Nashville to manage, market, operate and program the venue! They are also partners withĀ Starr Hill (Red Light Management’s live events division), and the Nashville Symphony. The symphony plans to utilize the amphitheater for up to six nights of outdoor concerts!

schermerhorn-symphony-centerI’ve never seen a show at the Symphony!

The venue is going to allow for 6,800 fans a show and will have aĀ 60-foot stage providing panoramic views of downtown and amazing views from every seat!

The president of North American Concerts for Live Nation, Bob Roux, said:Ā ā€œIf you look at the proliferation of open-air venues in the U.S. over the last 30 years, Nashville has been devoid of a centrally-located amphitheater, and Ascend Amphitheater will fill that void. There are not many open-air amphitheaters embedded into downtown like Ascend Amphitheater. There are a few around the country — downtown Chicago and a few others — but most sheds are in rural or suburban locations, and we think this location is highly unique and will prove to be very convenient for a full night of dining and entertainment.ā€

I really like his outlook and I agree…I can’t wait to go see a show there! Lord knows, I adored City Winery when it first opened and I’ve gone to a few shows so far šŸ™‚ I support local music, yes, yes I do!

See the full schedule below…

I can’t wait for AscendĀ Amphitheater to get here! Congrats Nashville!

Kesha is making her comeback!

I’ve been a Kesha fan since the don of the age of Aquarius, and now…

kesha reuters 660 1

…much to my delight she is FINALLY making her comeback to music!

Kesha has dropped the dollar sign that was once in her name because she claims she wants to be less self deprecating, which is a very nice reason.

She entered rehab atĀ Timberline Knolls, located outside of Chicago, on January 3, 2014 and received a good 2 months of treatment for her eating disorder / exhaustion and has been out since March 7, 2014!

Since she’s gotten healthier and taken time off for herself, she’s ready to get back to the music which is what I’ve been waiting on pins & needles to hear!

Just this week, Kesha performed an intimate acoustic show in Washington D.C. atĀ Black Cat for what was her very firstĀ public performance since 2013!

Check out her mashup of some of the hottest pop songs you & I know:

I love that her shows are acoustic and that she’s showcasing her voice for the first time in live performances without the use of autotune throughout! How cool is that?!

She’s cool, she’s calm, she’s confident, and sheeeeeee’s baaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!

It feels awesome to hear Kesha proudly take the stage again and I’m so freaking excited for the opportunity to see her in concert sometime soon!

Thanks to Facebook, she has posted other tour dates for us:

Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 3.11.50 PM

If you’re in MD, NV, or CA…GO!

She’s getting her name back out there again and I cannot wait to have my hands on a copy of her new album! There’s not many people I would actually like to have a physical CD for, but Kesha is one of them!

I’ve seen her front row three times now and I can’t wait to be front row again! šŸ™‚

Best of luck to you Kesha and come back to Nashville soon!!!
