Remember how Avril Lavigne has an undisclosed illness?
Well now she’s letting the cat out of the bag and telling us what it is!
I’ve been wondering for months why Avril has practically been in hiding and why she’s been so secretive with what illness she’s been dealing with.
Well there’s no need for any of us to wonder anymore, because Miss Lavigne has now told us that the “undisclosed health issues” she’s been dealing with is Lyme disease.
AL said the following about her illness: “I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move. I thought I was dying. I had complete weakness and fatigue. One night I tried to brush my teeth on the tour bus and couldn’t even stand. There were definitely times I couldn’t shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you.”

I’ve read that Lyme can also be transmitted through not only tick bites, but also through flea or mosquito bites.
30 year old Avril told Billboard in a recent interview about her time away from music: “I haven’t stopped working since I was 15. Just to have this downtime, this time spent with my family, has been really good for me just to take a step back and look at my life, and really get to see who in my life is really there for me when I need them. I’ve had a lot of time to just think, and I’ve never been so clear before, or as close to my family. So there’s been a lot of good that has come out of it. And moving forward, I’m really clear on what I want in life.”
I like that outlook!! She’s seeing who’s really steadfast and in her corner in life which is a great thing to know 😀
So Avril is ready to get back to music now and her new single “Fly” will be released on April 16th. The song will be the anthem for the 2015 Special Olympics.
And then, just for the heck of it…Avril talked about wanting to make a Christmas album HAHA She’s always wanted to do it so maybe this Christmas we’ll have a lot of punk rock holiday jams to be thankful for and to celebrate with!

In a statement about awareness, Avril said: “I feel like I have a responsibility — I can’t just sit on my ass and do nothing. I need to talk about Lyme disease, because it’s real, it’s out there, it was a simple bug bite and it could happen to anybody. People need to know about it, because it’s not talked about that much and a lot of the information that’s out there is inaccurate.”
I couldn’t agree more and I’m so happy she’s getting healthier by the day! I’ve always loved her music and I can’t wait to hear new songs!!
