What happened to LMFAO?

LMFAO was on top of the world back in 2011, but what happened to them?!

I’ve been wondering about where our favorite Party Rockers have been for months now, so it’s time to do a little research!

When we talk about LMFAO, we’re really talking about 2 guys that took the Pop music world by storm! And I’ll have you know, those 2 guys are actually related! 😀

Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) & Sky Blu (Skyler Gordy) are probably the first uncle & nephew duo on the planet! Red is 38 and his nephew Sky is 27!

Besides them being relatives, the coolest fun fact about LMFAO is that they are direct descendants of a music legend! That’s right! They’re related to Berry Gordy! The founder of Motown Records and a pioneer in Motown music! Redfoo is his youngest son and Sky Blu is his grandson!

Besides the fun facts, all I know is that no one could help but notice that LMFAO were making a statement back in 2011 when their music rose to the top!

They did release their first album back in 2009 which introduced the world to this:

That song brought some buzz towards LMFAO, but it was nothing compared to 2011!

The amazing duo released their album “Sorry for Party Rocking” on June 21st, 2011 with their first single from the album coming out earlier on January 1st. That single of course is “Party Rock Anthem” featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock. That was the song that changed Redfoo & Sky Blu’s life FOREVER!

That was me & my friend’s song for so long! HAHA Not to mention that video has been viewed 701,821,587 times on YouTube and it started an all new dance move: the shuffle!

LMFAO may have dominated our summer of 2011, but they were just getting us started because they released a new single: “Sexy and I Know It” on October 3rd, 2011!

That song was LMFAO’s second phenomenon song of the year! I remember hearing it for the first time when I saw them open for Ke$ha! I was cracking up laughing because the song was crazy-sounding and they kept saying “I workout!” 😀 That song was fun to listen to in the gym! HAHA

With #1’s under their belt, they made one final appearance together on the remix of “Give Me All Your Love” with Madonna at the Super Bowl in February 2012 and then they disappeared on us!

They looked epic as gladiators!

Then on September 21st, 2012, LMFAO released a statement announcing their hiatus!

Redfoo said: “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years and we will not be performing together anytime soon. We’re not breaking up. I know that for sure. We’re family and stuff, so it’s always love.”

So we know that a hiatus is put in place, yet when we hit September 21st in a few months…we’re looking at 2 years off! So what have the boys been doing?!

He released his first single as a solo artist “Bring Out The Bottles” in December 2012:

I actually really liked that song and I purchased it on iTunes 😀

That song was even used in the soundtrack for “Last Vegas” starring Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline. Redfoo appeared as himself in the movie too!

Then in an interesting turn of events, on April 21st, 2013 Redfoo was confirmed as Guy Sebastian’s replacement on Australia’s “The X Factor”! Then he decided to move to Sydney, Australia in 2013 to be close to the show and all 🙂

Then in September 2013, Redfoo released the song “Let’s Get Ridiculous”:

And on Oct 19th, 2013, Redfoo released the first episode of his new comedy web series “Behind The Speedo” with a second episode that was released on March 25th, 2014!

That’s what he’s been up to but I can’t fail to mention that he has been dating the #1 ranked women’s tennis player, Victoria Azarenka, since 2012!

They both love tennis & music! 😀

So it looks like Redfoo has been having a very successful hiatus from LMFAO!

Sky Blu

The first step that Sky took was to cut his long locks of hair to go for a new short look!

It’s a great new look for him!!!

Then he released the single “Pop Bottles” in January 2013:

Then on July 4th he released “Rebel Music”, a 9 track album for free download!!!

Sky Blu is calling himself “The Party President” and plans to drop a new album in July!

Sky has been busy too since LMFAO went on hiatus and since he has a new album coming out next month, I’m doubtful that LMFAO will get back together in 2014 😦

Let’s hope that the incredible family duo gets back to Pop music together in 2015!
