I’m an avid user of SoundCloud and when I heard this girl on the Divergent soundtrack…
…I had to know who she was! Her name is Pia Mia 🙂
Pia Mia Perez was born on the island of Guam and she currently lives in Los Angeles, CA!
At the young age of 17, I’m really stunned at how gorgeous her voice is! It seems like the talent is getting younger and younger these days!!
Pia will turn 18 next month and by then she will already have 5 years as a singer under her belt! She started out posting videos of herself singing on her YouTube channel in 2009 and she has had 15,209,887 total views as of July 2014 as well as 158,709 YouTube subscribers!
Here’s the first song I heard her sing: “Fight For You” for the movie Divergent:

Pia Mia took her YouTube stardom to new heights when she was introduced to Chris Brown’s manager Abou “Bu” Thaim in 2013! Bu is Akon’s brother believe it or not and he’s the VP of A&R at Def Jam! That’s a huge connection to make!!!

Pia started working in the studio with producer Nic Nac and they came up with a cover of Drake’s 2013 single “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
So in the end of 2013, Kim Kardashian published a video on the Keek app that showed Pia performing an A cappella version of her singing “Hold On, We’re Going Home” for everyone at a family dinner…including Kanye West and Drake! That certainly got her some buzz on social media as you can imagine!

I would be nervous as ever so sing/rap a Drake song in front of Drake! AHHHH!!!!!
In March 2014, she released the official Drake cover song along with a music video on her YouTube channel!

So how did Pia get to have a family dinner with the Kardashians?! Well it turns out that Pia is personal friends with Kris & Bruce’s youngest daughters: Kendall & Kylie!
And they’re all aspiring models too!
Pia released an 8 song EP called “The Gift” on December 23rd, 2014 for free to her fans!
